Guardian[1] is a Halo 3 multiplayer map.

It was first seen as a reference in the hexadecimal code of the Halo 3 Beta. Later, it was confirmed to be in the final game of Halo 3 when it was detailed in an issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine and an article in the Japanese magazine Famitsu, and it was said to be a "spiritual successor" to Lockout.[2]

Battle on Guardian. Note the Mauler.

Instead of a desolate and snowy mountain, Guardian is set in what appears to be a complex surrounded by jungle. Although it bears a vague similarity to Sanctuary in setting, its layout recalls a mixture of Lockout and Ascension. Indeed, it could be seen as a happy medium between the two: while it retains the central area and size of Ascension, its layout and weapon spawns are very reminiscent of Lockout.

More gameplay on Guardian. Note the jungle in the background.

The September 2007 issue of EGM stated that that Guardian is the map "Jub-Jub" that Bungie referred to numerous times in their weekly update. This is believed because the name Jub-Jub was said to be used because 'Ewoks' make the sound. Ewoks live in a jungle-like place, which is what Guardian is.[3]

Inside the EGM Semptember Issue it mentions a "green tinted dead end that houses a shotgun" and a sniper perch which means the weapon scheme will be very similar to the scheme of Lockout it's predecessor.

Also, inside the september EGM Issue, more pictures of this map were revealed, such as a crowd of Spartans and Elites fighting each other in one of the side areas to the map.
