Production notes[edit]
Crossfire's development began in 2013. During it's development, the map was named "Speedball". This name came from a type of competitive paintball with inflatable bunkers played by Halo's multiplayer design director Kevin Franklin, which also heavily inspired the Breakout mode itself.[2]
