PREFECT-class Mjolnir is a variant of the MJOLNIR [GEN2] and MJOLNIR [GEN3][1] manufactured by the Watershed Division. It is reverse-engineered from the personal armor worn by Forerunner Prefects.[2]
GEN2 overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The GEN2 Prefect armor is based on the Forerunner Combat skin used by the Prefects, a class of Warrior-Servants in the Ecumene.
Development history[edit]
Research on the Forerunner shield world now called Trevelyan has cultivated numerous findings for the Office of Naval Intelligence. One of the most practical has been the discovery of a native armor system utilized by Forerunner Prefects late in their civilization's history. The Watershed Division leveraged local Huragok to reverse-engineer the original designs, grafting the abandoned armor system into baseline Mjolnir standards for Spartan-IV use.[2] It was tested at Denegroth, West Conamara, on Europa.[3]
GEN3 overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The GEN3 Prefect helmet is compatible with the "Odin's Eye", an hyperscanner developed by the Watershed Division that allows the user a real-time environment analysis and the detection of baffler camouflage.[4] The armor is built on the same exotic materials from which the Promethean Knights are built.[5]
Development history[edit]
Like its GEN2 predecessor, the GEN3 Prefect armor was developed by the Watershed Division. By 2560, and after several years of testings, revisions, several discoveries on Forerunner technologies, and setbacks, ONI was finally prepared to deploy the Prefect armor as a technological demostration of fusing human powered armor and Forerunner combat skins.[6]
In-game information[edit]
Halo 4[edit]
Prefect is one of the three armors from the Infinity Armor Pack. Like the other two armor sets, it is not usable in Spartan Ops in Halo 4. Although the Prefect was unavailable during initial release in The Master Chief Collection, it was made available in Series 7: Elite.

Production notes[edit]
- "Initially when I started out on this, I did experiment a bit with fusing the typical Halo 4 'armor noise' into a 'loose' interpretation of Issac's design then swung into a more direct interpretation with simpler shapes. Alot of the simple designs had some very nice chunky, unique silhouette breaking shapes, which I thought would have been a nice break from the typical collection of Halo armors, but eventually alot of the pieces were broken up and shrunk down to fit more snugly against the frame and avoid any unwanted collision..."
- — Sean Bigham, describing the design process for Prefect.[7]
The Prefect variant was based on Halo: Chronicles concept art for a "Promethean" (unrelated to the Prometheans now-known in canon) by Isaac Hannaford. It was designed for Halo 4 by concept artist Sean Bigham.[7]
The first trailer for the Champions Bundle DLC showed the Prefect armor with a different design on the armor's wrists, an added decal for Chalybs Defense Solutions on the helmet's forehead, and the player's secondary color applied to their player model's fingertips. These would be altered for the DLC's launch.
