The ORCUS exoskeleton is an exoskeleton that was tested by Orbital Drop Shock Troopers,[1] before eventually being utilized by Spartan personnel operating with older MJOLNIR ensembles.

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

Fitting its intended use, the ORCUS exoskeleton utilizes many shock-dampening and impact dispersal methods to aid the end user.[2][3] The EXO-X/O-Module Alpha Rev 2 also features a filtration system for extended activities in tainted or toxic atmospheres.

Development history[edit]

The ORCUS exoskeleton was manufactured by Cascade Stronghold Technologies, a company already familiar with adapting ODST armor to the MJOLNIR platform. While tested by ODSTs,[1] the armor's development would fall into a state of limbo, with final production models intending to sport unique additions including a tactical computer and holoprojectors.[4] The armor would come into use by Spartans at a later time.

In-game information[edit]

Halo Infinite[edit]

The ORCUS exoskeleton was introduced in Frontlines, being made available for multiplayer Spartan armor customization primarily on the Mark IV armor core in Halo Infinite.

Production notes[edit]

While Orcus was introduced in Halo Infinite's Frontlines Operation, the armor and its lore are based on concept art pieces and a model for an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper in Halo 5: Guardians, which would eventually be cut from the game. ODSTs wearing this armor were at one point intended to be introduced in the Halo 5's premiere Warzone game mode, dropping onto the battlefield through the M9407 drop pod. Ultimately, only the M9407 would remain in-game, acting as the player's spawn in Warzone Assault.[5]
