Armor cracking units are small Forerunner automatons designed to break through Forerunner armor, including combat skin, usually for the purpose of sabotage. They are about the size of a human fist, and have been said to resemble metallic fleas.[1]

Armor cracking units were employed during the conflict on Installation 07, where they infiltrated ships and sabotaged the armor of the Forerunner combatants within.[1]
