Gateway
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The Gateway is a Forerunner Lithos on the shield world of Genesis. It is located in the coral highlands of the planet, hidden by the region's bio-readings. It serves as a link to the Domain.[2]
History[edit]
Ancient history[edit]
While the Gateway was monitored by the Forerunners, it was rarely used by them. When the Halo Array fired during the Great Purification, the Gateway closed.[2]
Post-war[edit]
However, when Blue Team was brought to Genesis in October 2558, Cortana manipulated them to begin opening the Gateway by activating several consoles.[3] Blue Team was eventually forcibly brought through the Gateway.[1]
Shortly after, Genesis was moved into a slipspace portal by Monitor 031 Exuberant Witness,[4] making its Lithos gateway inaccessible to the rest of the galaxy. The UNSC was left with no idea where it ended up, thus leaving the UNSC unable to use the Gateway to access the Domain.[5]
Exuberant Witness suggested that taking TDS-009 through the Gateway into the Domain would be the best chance for it to find peace, although the Monitor was unsure of how successful it would be with the Domain out of commission for so long and currently under Cortana's control.[4]
After the destruction of the Warden Eternal, the Haruspis sealed the Gateway.[6]
