Riven Gate is an optional side mission in the Halo Infinite campaign. It is part of the Reformation section of the campaign. Completing it earns the player 100 points of valor.

Overview

The Chief attacks Riven Gate, a heavily fortified Banished checkpoint consisting of three massive gates.

Transcript

The Chief approaches Riven Gate. He can hear a Jiralhanae officer making announcements over a loudspeaker.

  • Jiralhanae Officer (loudspeaker): "Power levels holding. Generators at maximum."
  • Jiralhanae Officer (loudspeaker): "The Horn of Abolition sends word. A squad of humans may be approaching."

If FOB Kilo has been recaptured:

  • Weapon: "That's Riven Gate. The Banished stranded a lot of our people in enemy territory when they built it. And it's held ever since."
  • John-117: "Until today. We're taking this checkpoint down."
  • Weapon: "Thought you might say that. Security consoles in the gatehouses ahead. Let's kick in some doors."

If FOB Kilo has not been recaptured yet:

  • Weapon: "That's an intimidating checkpoint. They sure don't want visitors on the far side of the island, huh?"
  • John-117: "Too bad it's not up to them. We're taking those gates down. For good."
  • Weapon: "Security consoles in the gatehouses ahead. Let's kick in some doors."

The Chief engages the Banished troops outside Riven Gate.

  • Jiralhanae: "The humans insult us by trying to slip by our great Gate!"
  • Jiralhanae Officer (loudspeaker): "Is it true? Has the Master Chief has arrived to challenge Riven Gate? (scoffs) How brave... and foolish. Banished! Our quarry has arrived!"

After clearing out the Banished guards outside Riven Gate, Chief uses his Grappleshot to get past the first gate (or scales the cliffside to go around it) and engages the Banished troops on the other side. A Phantom arrives and drops off hostile reinforcements. The Chief fights his way across Riven Gate, freeing a trio of captured Marines along the way. The grateful Marines aid him in his task.

The Chief breaks into a gatehouse and lowers one of the three gates.

  • Weapon: "The first gate is down. Two to go."
  • Jiralhanae Officer (loudspeaker): "He's breached a gate?! Impossible! All forces! Kill the Spartan!"

The Chief fights his way to another gatehouse. He proceeds inside and lowers another gate.

  • Jiralhanae Officer (loudspeaker): "He's breached a second gate! This checkpoint must NOT FALL!"

Phantoms and drop pods are deployed, bringing additional enemies. The Chief deals with them and proceeds to the last gatehouse. He goes inside and lowers the final gate.

  • Weapon: "The gates are down, but if we really want to shut this checkpoint down, we need something a little more... permanent. Got it. The primary power source is a generator. It's in a structure in the cliffside above."
  • John-117: "Acknowledged."

He starts heading for the generator.

  • Jiralhanae Officer (loudspeaker): "All forces! Converge on the Spartan! Scan detected. He's targeting our generator! Lock down access. Bolster security at the power station. This is your LAST CHANCE."

A Banished Phantom arrives and deploys more enemy reinforcements. The Chief makes short work of them, then enters the power station. A Sangheili Ultra, a Zealot, and a pair of Kig-Yar Raiders guard the generator.

  • Sangheili Ultra: "Brothers! Riven Gate must withstand the human advance!"

The Chief kills all the Banished inside the power station. He then uses a control console to expose the generator, which he promptly destroys, ensuring the gates remain lowered.

  • Weapon: "The UNSC can move freely across this part of the Ring for the first time in months. The Banished just lost some long-held territory. And you took it single-handedly, Chief. If Escharum wasn't worried before, he sure has a good reason start."

Mission is completed.
