Spartan Killer[2]

"Bassus? Tremonius? Bah! Now you face true Spartan Killers!"
— Hyperius taunting John-117.

Hyperius was a Jiralhanae Spartan Killer in the service of the Banished and a brother to the fellow warrior Tovarus.[3][4] During the Installation 07 conflict in 2560, he and his brother were killed by Spartan-II John-117.[2]

Biography[edit]

Banished service[edit]

Hyperius had once served as part of the Bloodstars unit within the Banished. Ruthless and aggressive, Hyperius actively sought out the greatest challenge his opponents could offer. Eventually, he was offered by Escharum to join the Hand of Atriox. Hyperius was an exemplary Spartan killer, having been responsible for the deaths of over a dozen Spartan operatives, wearing trophies pulled from the armor of each defeated opponent.[5]

Hunting the Master Chief[edit]

In 2560, Hyperius participated in the Installation 07 conflict, during which he and Tovarus killed many Spartans, including Theodore Sorel. Later, they were sent by Escharum to hunt down Spartan-II John-117. Hyperius and Tovarus engaged the Spartan after he had destroyed three Kywasky Workshop Gorespike cannons, with Hyperius mounted on his custom Chopper and Tovarus raining down fire with his Grenflekt Workshop Scrap Cannon. They were unsuccessful in killing John-117, and both brothers died at the Spartan's hands.[2]

Personality and traits[edit]

Hyperius was seemingly very attached to his brother,[6] a sentiment that Tovarus did not appear to share.[7] Hyperius had amber-colored eyes.[2]

Equipment[edit]

Hyperius had the helmet and torso from Jameson Locke's GEN2 HUNTER-class Mjolnir armor mounted to one of his pauldrons, as trophies.[2][8] He also wore a war trophy necklace composed of what appears to be the fingers of Spartans.[3][4] He rode the Catulus Chopper, a custom variant of the Banished Chopper.[2] He also wielded a Veporokk Workshop Ravager and a SRS99-S7 AM sniper rifle, and carried spike grenades. His armor was also equipped with personal energy shields and a jump pack.[2]

Production notes[edit]

Hyperius was portrayed by American voice actor Imari Williams, who also lent his voice to Spartan Theodore Sorel.[9]
