Halo 3 E3 2007 Trailer

The Halo 3 E3 2007 Trailer was the trailer released by Bungie Studios for the E3 gaming convention, showcasing the Halo 3 campaign. It was also released on the night of July 10, 2007 via Bungie.net and the Xbox LIVE marketplace for free download. The duration of the video is 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

Trailer begins with a black screen.

• Prophet of Truth: "You are, all of you, vermin!"

A Ru'swum-pattern Phantom flies over the Kenyan jungle.

• Prophet of Truth: "Cowering in the dirt thinking... what?"

At the A2 Hydroelectric Facility, Sergeant Major Avery Johnson is down on the ground while a Jiralhanae Chieftain growls at him. Johnson stands, spins around, and throws a punch at the Chieftain. The Jiralhanae catches Johnson's fist, then tosses him in the air before kicking him into a small building.

• Prophet of Truth: "That you might escape the coming fire?"

A Phantom flies away from Voi, where there is a wreckage of a Covenant ship. Two Ket-pattern battlecruisers glass the clouded surface with their energy projectors.

• Prophet of Truth: "Your world will burn until its surface is but glass!"

Cross fades to a burning building in Voi, zooming closer before cross fading to the Master Chief standing in a wrecked elevator, with fire behind him, in the tunnels underneath Crow's Nest.

A Phantom comes to a halt in the Kenyan jungle. A Jiralhanae roars, commanding the Unggoy behind him. Factory workers at Traxus Factory Complex 09 are under attack by a pack of Jiralhanae. Standing atop a fallen tree trunk, a Jiralhanae Captain punches Gunnery Sergeant Reynolds.

In the factory complex, the Master Chief jumps on an M274 Mongoose with a marine riding in the back; they and other Mongooses drive off. Cut to the Master Chief and the Arbiter carrying detached AIE-486H machine guns as they move across the factory complex.

Underneath a Skar'wa-pattern Mantis, the Master Chief and the Arbiter look up as a squadron of GA-TL1 Longswords streak overhead, flying towards the Excession at Voi.

At Crow's Nest, a Jiralhanae Chieftain approaches the Master Chief; the scene cuts to the Chief's point of view as he fires his M90A shotgun, killing the Chieftain.

Near Tsavo Highway, the Chief takes out his SRS99D-S2 AM sniper rifle, using its scope to watch a Jiralhanae Jumper in the air; he fires, killing the Jumper.

At the factory complex, the Chief fires his BR55HB battle rifle at a Jiralhanae. Back near Tsavo Highway, the Chief is driving a Warthog; the gunner is firing at a Wraith in the distance.

At the Kenyan jungle, the Chief is firing a detached AIE-486H machine gun at a Phantom; the Phantom falls into the river and explodes. At Crow's Nest, the Master Chief throws a plasma grenade at a pack of Jiralhanae; it explodes, killing multiple Jiralhanae.

Outside the factory complex, the Master Chief is boarding a Wraith; after a few punches, the Wraith explodes, killing the operator. At the factory complex, the Chief is firing a detached AIE-486H machine gun at enemies off screen. Two Mgalekgolo enter the factory; one fires its assault cannon as a rocket hits it.

At Crow's Nest, a Yanme'e lifts up a Marine; the scene cuts to the Chief's point of view as he watches more Yanme'e fly in.

Outside the factory complex, the Master Chief, carrying an M41B SPNKr, climbs on a marine's Mongoose; the scene cuts to the Chief's point of view as he fires a rocket at a Karo'etba-pattern Ghost, destroying it.

At the Ark, Commander Miranda Keyes sees two Jiralhanae approaching her; she spins around, raising both her M6G2 magnum and M90A shotgun at the Jiralhanae.

At Voi, a Longsword fighter is shot down.

Onboard the Shadow of Intent, a recording of Cortana shows her clutching her head as she gasps in sudden pain and collapses. The Master Chief leans down as the Arbiter and 343 Guilty Spark watches on.

At Voi, three Charon-class light frigates firing their MACs. Standing at a cliff edge, the Arbiter roars into the sky.

At the hydroelectric facility, a Jiralhanae Chieftain charges forward. In the jungle, the Master Chief charges while firing his assault rifle.

At Crow's Nest, the Master Chief melees a Jiralhanae Captain.

Near Tsavo Highway, the Master Chief boards a Barukaza Workshop Chopper, killing the Jiralhanae driver before taking control of the vehicle.

At Voi, the Chief fires his rocket launcher, killing a Jiralhanae Chieftain jumping at him. In the Kenyan jungle, a Jiralhanae deploys a Z-4190 bubble shield. At Voi, the Chief takes out his magnum and fires; the scene cuts to first-person view as he fires the magnum while multiple plasma grenades detonate among the enemies. In the Kenyan jungle, the Chief melees a Jiralhanae using a Jovokada Workshop brute shot.

Near Tsavo Highway, a Chopper pushes a Warthog; the scene cuts to the Chief on foot as the Warthog rolls across the battlefield.

Close-up of a D77H Pelican cockpit; the Master Chief, Sergeant Major Johnson, and Hocus are aboard. The scene cuts to the inside of cockpit, looking out: the Ark and the darkness of space fill the windshield. The scene cuts to a Pelican being shot in space; its starboard engine bursts into flame and it spirals out of control and explodes.

At Voi, the Master Chief is firing from a detached LAU-65D/SGM-151 missile pod at a Phantom, which explodes.

In the Kenyan jungle, a Jiralhanae Captain Major approaches Johnson as he fires a turret from a Pelican's troop bay. The scene cuts to a close-up of Johnson, an Irdnekt-pattern Banshee, the Master Chief firing a turret at the Banshe, then an explosion on the Pelican.

Near Tsavo Highway, the Master Chief makes a hard right turn on a Chopper.

In the Kenyan jungle, three marines fire their assault rifles at a Phantom.

Near Tsavo Highway, the Chief is driving a M831 Troop Transport Warthog, with the marine passengers firing their weapons.

In the Kenyan jungle, the Master Chief charges the Arbiter, pressing the magnum between the Arbiter's mandibles.

At Voi, a Deutoros-pattern Scarab fires its focus cannon. The scene cuts to the Chief's perspective; he fires his M41B SPNKr at the Scarab's leg. The scene cuts to the Arbiter firing a detached Pek-pattern plasma cannon while on board the Scarab, then to the Master Chief destroying the Scarab's core. The Chief jumps out of the Scarab; the scene cuts to the Chief watching the Scarab's explosion from a distance.

Cut to black, then to a Pelican flies away from a Fleet of Retribution near the Excession.

Cut to black, then to the Master Chief, back at High Charity. He bends down at a holo-table.

Cut to black.

Production notes

• The music in the trailer is a mash-up of the Halo 3 iteration of the Halo Theme and One Final Effort.
• Some scenes from the trailer appear to be early renditions or alternate versions of scenes from the final build of Halo 3:
  • Sergeant Major Johnson's altercation with the Chieftain is depicted differently; in the trailer, the Chieftain throws Johnson into the air before kicking him mid-air, whereas in the final build of Sierra 117, the Chieftain does not react to Johnson's punch, and simply reacts by kicking Johnson into the building.
  • The Jiralhanae surrounding Commander Keyes in the Citadel appear to be Jiralhanae Minors clad in green power armors, which do not appear in the final build; in The Covenant, Commander Keyes was approached by Bodyguards.
  • The slipspace portal at the Excession was noticeably missing in the second-to-final scene.
