A Protector plant is an underground variant of the Forerunner Sentinel manufacturing facility, capable of constructing Protector Sentinels. The Protector Sentinels exit the facility via a tunnel connecting the facility to its exterior. Like the Sentinel shop, the square-shaped exit is characterised by four pillars at each of its corners, but the Protector plants lack the two protrusions on the exit's inner wall. Two such facilities were located within the shield world Etran Harborage.[1]

Two Protector plants appear exclusively in the Halo Wars Skirmish level Labyrinth, initially defended by Aggressor Sentinels. Unlike other bonus buildings, the building cannot be garrisoned. Players with a unit nearby may access its menu and purchase Protector units, which can then be attached to friendly units as support. The Protector units are produced instantly and construction must recharge before being able to produce a new unit, much like the UNSC leaders' Support Abilities.
The visually-similar Sentinel shop produces Aggressor Sentinels and Super Sentinels instead of Protector Sentinel.
