UNSC Airpad

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

A render of the UNSC Airpad.
A UNSC airpad.

The UNSC Airpad (sometimes stylized as Air Pad) is a UNSC military building produced off of a prefabricated Firebase. As its name suggests, it provides the support for aircraft at the base.[1][2] The Covenant equivalent to the Airpad is the Summit, while the Banished equivalent is the Apex.

Overview[edit]

The Airpad primarily houses the air crews, the maintenance crews, and the equipment required to assemble, refit, refuel, repair, and rearm various UNSC aircraft, including the Hornet, Sparrowhawk, Vulture, and Nightingale.[1][2] The building also houses banks of simulation pods to train pilots in everything from the basics to advanced tactical maneuvers; there have been instances in which firebase commanders have assigned any able bodies to the simulators for a crash course in operating the Hornet.[1] The building also supports the force commander with sensor feeds and intelligence uplinks which allow for proper battlespace deconfliction, kill chain assignment, and other aerospace management tasks.[2]

Airpads are firebase support structures that allows the requisition of Hornet, Nightingale. and Vulture flyers from the Spirit of Fire and unlocks their upgrade options. Multiple Airpads in a firebase reduces flying vehicle requisition time.

Expeditionary airpads house the maintenance crews and equipment needed to assemble, repair, refuel, and rearm UNSC aircraft. Airpads also support the force commander with sensor feeds and intelligence uplinks which allow for proper battlespace deconfliction, kill chain assignment, and other aerospace management tasks.
