Production notes[edit]
- "Initially designed as an alternative to the SPI armor used by SPARTAN-III operatives, the notoriously secretive Watershed group has unexpectedly revealed the HOPLITE as a low-cost Mjolnir variant optimized for pairing with UNSC pistols. HOPLITE armor lacks the bells and whistles of most Mjolnir variants, but is easy to build and repair."
- — Halo Online HOPLITE description
Hoplite was one of many armor sets slated to appear in Halo Online, prior to the game's cancellation. The set appeared in the game's pre-alpha and Closed Alpha, with a radical design change from the version featured in Halo 2: Anniversary. Due to the game's cancellation, the armour and its given lore are non-canon.
Trivia[edit]
A hoplite was a citizen-soldier of the Ancient Greek city-states who was armed primarily with a spear and a shield. Hoplites represent the archetypal image of Ancient Greek warriors, including the forces of Sparta.
