A Cyclops Mark II under construction.

The Cyclops Mark II is a successor to the HRUNTING Mark III (B) "Cyclops" powered exoskeleton. It is armed with a multi-barrelled cannon on its right "arm" and what appears to be an array of rocket launchers on the other. The Mark II is considerably larger than its predecessor, appearing to be about forty feet tall.[1] Superficially, it bears closer resemblance to the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark I Prototype Exoskeleton, a parallel successor to the Mark I, than to the original Cyclops.

It is similar in outward appearance and profile to the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark IX "Mantis" Armor Defense System, a later model in the line of armor systems derived from the Cyclops.

Designation

The formal designation for the original Cyclops model, "HRUNTING Mark III [B] Exoskeleton," was derived from its development lineage as an offshoot of the pre-MJOLNIR Mark III exoskeleton.[2] However, the Mark II appears to have been designated based on a new system in which the original Cyclops is retroactively classified as "Mark I." This change may have been implemented to highlight the difference between the Cyclops and MJOLNIR families and in order to avoid the two Mark-based generational systems overlapping. However, since the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark IX "Mantis" exoskeleton retains the earlier exoskeletons' lineage in its designation, the "Cyclops Mark II" may have simply been an informal name or working title used by 343 Industries during the development of Halo 4.
