Operational history

At some point between 2557 and 2558, Fireteam Windfall participated in F-41 Broadsword sorties on Requiem. By December 2559, Fireteam Windfall has run a variety of operations, including Prowler corps maneuvers on a Kig-Yar purse-moon and strikes on Jiralhanae raiding parties alongside Swords of Sanghelios.[2]

On December 12, 2559, Spartans Vedrana Makovich and Henri Malik of Fireteam Windfall were onboard spacecrafts escorting UNSC Infinity when it was ambushed by Banished forces upon arrival at Installation 07. As the Infinity fell to the Banished assault, Makovich and Malik engaged Banshees that were attacking the lifeboats launching from the Infinity.[3]

At least two members of Windfall, Makovich and Malik, had joined the UNSC survivors at the wreckage of UNSC Mortal Reverie at the fragmented section of the ring. The crash site was established as a UNSC base of operations, gathering UNSC forces at the site.[4][5] On January 23, 2560, Spartan Hudson Griffin, the de facto leader at the crash site, proposed the Spartans were to draw straws to participate in an assassination mission on the Banished War Chief Escharum.[6] Malik, along with Spartans Griffin, Panago, and Sarkar were selected.[5] However, the assassination on Escharum failed, with Malik being reported as a casualty before Griffin was captured himself.[7]

Makovich, seemingly the remaining member of Fireteam Windfall, participated in the defense of the Reverie when it came under attack of the Banished.[8] Following the UNSC's retreat from the crash site on February 2, Makovich continued to run guerilla operations against the Banished, enacting the Rubicon Protocol on March 3.[9] However, during an infiltration into a Banished excavation site on May 15,[10] Makovich was killed by Blademaster Jega 'Rdomnai,[11] leaving no known survivors of Windfall.
