Libra Team was the designation given to Spartan-II Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and ORION Sergeant Major Avery Johnson during Operation: METEORITE.[1] The Halberd-class light destroyer UNSC Burden of Proof served as Libra Actual.[2]
History

In 2551, the UNSC discovered that the Covenant logistics vessel Triumph of Tolerance remained in orbit over the glassed human colony of Promise. With no other Covenant ships in the system, Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb saw it as an opportunity to send a team in to infiltrate the Covenant ship and recover its kelguid. Having previously captured one decades earlier during the Battle of Seoba, Whitcomb and Dr. Catherine Halsey hoped to learn the location of the Covenant homeworld. The two recruited Spartan-II Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 who requested Sergeant Major Avery Johnson, an ORION supersoldier who he had previously worked with during Operation: SILENT STORM, as his teammate.[3]
Using a captured Spirit dropship, Libra Team managed to infiltrate the Covenant ship, but quickly came into conflict with the Minister of Harmony and his crew. The two supersoldiers were able to rescue several Marine POWs who were being experimented upon by Harmony and download the data from the kelguid. After returning to the hangar bay, Johnson contacted with UNSC Burden of Proof for a fire mission to destroy the Triumph of Tolerance and Harmony's experiments. While the Marines stayed behind to sabotage the power generators, John-117 and Johnson exfiltrated in two hijacked Seraph fighters, using them to fly cover for the Burden and partially disable the Covenant ship. The Burden destroyed the Triumph of Tolerance after the Marines disabled the ship's shields at the cost of most of their lives.[1][4][2]
Dr. Catherine Halsey subsequently informed Johnson that Libra Team's mission had been a success as she had found High Charity's location from the data that they had recovered.[2]
