Battle training uniform
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
A battle training uniform (BTU) is a kind of protective equipment used by the United Nations Space Command. They are used for physical training scenarios alongside mag training rounds; when hit by a mag round the BTU can lock up, immobilising its operator and simulating an injury. It is similar in this regard to the use of tactical training rounds, which can affect clothing and fibres in a similar manner. BTUs may be used in training environments where heavy exoskeletons are involved in the testing process, as mag training rounds affect both similarly.[1]
In July 2551, BTUs were donned by the Force Reconnaissance Marines of the "Hungry Buzzards" in a training exercise against John-117. The goal of the exercise was to test the then-in development Mark I (H) exoskeleton; when the marines dismounted their exoskeletons, the BTUs ensured they would still be vulnerable to simulated hits from John's weapons fire.[1]
