The Dovotaa Workshop Sky Protector, commonly known as the Reaver, is a bipedal anti-aircraft walker used by the Banished.[1][3] The Reaver is capable of using its missiles as a propulsion system briefly in order to cover long distances or smash into enemies, similar to a Spartan's ground pound.
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The Reaver is a heavily-armoured bipedal combat walker. Despite its heavy armour plating, the walker is considered agile in nature, able to use a series of in-built jump-jet systems to quickly launch itself into the air and access more advantageous firing positions.[1] The vehicle is manufactured by the Crucibles of Dovotaa, a clan workshop of the Dovotaa clan, bearing the marks of both workshop and assembly forge construction.[2] An armoured canopy is situated in the front of the vehicle, covered in thick armour plating.[1]
Armaments[edit]
In its role as an anti-air system, the Reaver is primarily fitted with two Thrasher missile pods, with each pod containing five launch tubes. For self-defence against lighter ground targets, the Reaver has twin spike autocannons mounted just below the cockpit canopy[1] - with the weapons themselves seemingly built into the housing of two Zubo-pattern beam rifles.
The sensor system for the Reaver was taken from an old salvaged Covenant augur assembly.[1]
Variants[edit]
- Prowling Reaver - a variant of the Reaver fitted with active camouflage technology.
Operational history[edit]
The Reaver is a relatively new addition to the Banished arsenal, and its manufacturer is unknown-though it bears telltale marks of both workshop and assembly vat construction, which hints at an origin on Doisac. They have largely replaced the skyhunter series of Wraiths and anti-aerospace fortifications in the Banished.[2] The Banished deployed many Reavers against the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire on Installation 00 in March 2559.[3]
In December of 2559, Reavers were deployed by Banished forces on Reach to defend against an attack by United Nations Space Command forces on the Menachite portal complex.[4]
Gameplay[edit]
Halo Wars 2[edit]
Reavers can be built at the Foundry by all Banished leaders. Reavers perform well against aircraft, but poorly against infantry, vehicles, and structures. In Blitz, Reavers cost 60 energy and Prowling Reavers cost 80 energy. Prowling Reavers stay cloaked for 90 seconds.
Phoenix log[edit]
Anti-aircraft combat walker armed with rapid-fire missile launchers. The Reaver is a walker unit unique to the Banished, built to act as a highly mobile counter-air unit. It is armed with Thrasher missile pods that track on enemy aircraft and a light spiker autocannon that can deter attack by infantry and light armored vehicles. It can use its Predatory Leap ability to jump short distances, useful for setting up ambushes or evading attack. The Reaver is a relatively new addition to the Banished arsenal, and its manufacturer is unknown-though it bears telltale marks of both workshop and assembly vat construction. which hints at an origin on Doisac. They have largely replaced the AA Wraith and anti-aerospace fortifications in the Banished forces, and have quickly earned a dreaded reputation among the Spirit of Fire's pilots. |
Trivia[edit]
The Reaver bears numerous similarities to the cut Gorgon vehicle, intended for inclusion in the original Halo Wars.
