Bright bomb

- — Jai-006 and Michael-120 discussing their use of a bright bomb during the Battle of Boundary.[1]
A bright bomb is a kind of explosive used by the United Nations Space Command. They are similar in function to a flashbang grenade or a Covenant flare, used to stun and disable enemy troops without killing them. When used, the bomb induces an extremely bright flash and an ear-piercing bang alongside releasing psychotropic chemicals to disorient an enemy; the lack of a concussive effect means that they can be safely used inside a structure without risking the operators using the device.[1]
The bomb itself resembles a small metal tube, which can be planted on a surface. When activated, the device has a ten second countdown timer which, once completed, activates a proximity sensor. After that, should it detect any nearby motion, it activates, acting similarly to a mine. During the Battle of Boundary, Gray Team used a bright bomb to distract a team of Jiralhanae Stalkers that were pursuing them through the runoff tunnels underneath Tyrrhen.[1]
