Storm is the lowest rank for Sangheili serving in Jul 'Mdama's Covenant faction. Storm are essentially the military backbone of the faction.[1][2] Sangheili of this rank are also present in Vata 'Gajat mercenary group, formerly part of 'Mdama's Covenant.

Description

Storm are the lowest-ranking Sangheili in the modern Covenant, although they still outrank the Kig-Yar and Unggoy. They serve virtually the same role as the Sangheili Minors who served in the original Covenant. The majority of the Sangheili serving in the reformed Covenant fall under the Storm class. Sangheili Storm often lead lower-ranking Unggoy and Kig-Yar on the battlefield while reporting to higher-ranking Sangheili Commanders or Zealots.[1]

Equipment

The armor of a Sangheili Storm is simple, sleek, and efficient.[1] One aspect in which they differ largely from Minors is their combat harness. The Storm combat harness is most often issued in blue (like the Minors'), though green, red, and white harnesses are sometimes used instead. Also, whereas the Minor combat harness covers the entire body, the Storm combat harness leaves the wearer's arms exposed.

Sangheili Storm are often armed with Type-55 storm rifles and Type-51 carbines, while using Type-33 Needlers or Type-25 plasma pistols as sidearms. Occasionally they wield explosive weaponry like the Type-33 fuel rod gun or Type-50 concussion rifle. Contrary to the original Covenant, 'Mdama's sect is less stringent about traditional weapon-wielding protocol; as such, Sangheili Storm class are occasionally seen using energy swords. Sangheili Storm on Requiem sometimes used Forerunner Z-110 boltshots.[3]

Gameplay

Sangheili Storm typically carry only storm rifles and Covenant carbines and very rarely wield energy swords throughout the Halo 4 campaign.[4] Like their Minor counterparts, their shields are weaker and they are more likely to make mistakes in combat than the higher ranking Sangheili, especially on lower difficulties.
