Killtastrophe is a multikill medal awarded in Halo 3 Multiplayer for killing 8 opponents within 4 seconds of each previous kill. It is represented by a blue circle with eight silver stars. This medal is extremely hard to get because of the combined difficulty of killing eight people in a row without getting killed within a certain time limit. One method of earning it is to wait at a common place or doorway and when enemies come down or come around the corner you kill them (Note: This only work if there are a large number of players). Another option is throwing a tripmine into a group of enemies. To further this effect, throw a grenade with the tripmine. This will cause more damage and finish off people who have their shields down from the tripmine. There are only two medals above this prestigious medal, which are the Killpocalypse and Killionaire Medals.

Killtastrophe Halo 3 Medal Icon

The Killtastrophe medal is awarded for killing eight opponents within four seconds of each other in standard multiplayer games (and Halo: Spartan Assault) and within less time in campaign and Firefight. In Halo 4 multiplayer and Spartan Ops, the kills need only be within 4.5 seconds of each other.

Originally, the medal was represented by eight silver stars on a light blue circle. In Halo 4 it is represented by eight white stars on a brown circle rimmed with orange and brown. The medal is monochrome and imposed on a shield in Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike. It is also emblazoned with only seven stars, and differing only from the Killamanjaro medal by an unshaded section at the bottom of the shield.

Gameplay Tips[edit]

 • This medal is extremely hard to get because of the combined difficulty of killing eight players in a row without getting killed within a certain time limit. One method of earning the medal is to wait at a common place and ambush incoming players. This only works if there are numerous players.
 • Another option in Halo 3 is throwing a Trip Mine into a group of enemies. To further this effect, throw a grenade with the Trip Mine. This will cause more damage and finish off people who have their shields down from the Trip Mine.
