Extermination

Extermination is a medal in Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, and Halo Infinite multiplayer.
It is earned for killing the entire enemy team that results in a Overkill.
In Halo 3, it is represented by a gray cross with a red skull overlayed on top.
In Halo: Reach, it is represented by a cross that looks like heated up metal with a bright red skull.
In Halo 4, it is represented by a white skull overlayed on top of a dark red hexagon with a crimson red border that is surrounded by 16 pointed transparent spikes.
In Halo 5: Guardians, it is represented by a blue skull with an X on the forehead, 4 blue stars below it, overlayed on top of a blue hexagon with a black border.
In Halo Infinite, it is represented by 4 white skulls overlayed on top of each other, which is also overlayed on a red hexagon that has a golden colored border with mini triangles.
Summary[edit]
This medal can be considered very difficult to earn, requiring a player to not only encounter four enemies together but also successfully and quickly kill the team. The medal is likely more common in game modes such as SWAT as time-to-kill can be instantaneous.
It can also be obtained by killing the person who is in a team consisting only of himself, four times within four seconds of each kill.
In Halo: Reach, it is possible to earn an Extermination without getting an Overkill. The exact specifics are unknown, but the medal seems to require one to get 4 kills on the same team in about the maximum time you can get an overkill in (12 seconds) instead of the Overkill medal itself.
Halo Infinite[edit]
The medal was previously only available within the Extermination game mode, where the player performs an Extermination within one round. On August 9, 2023, the medal became available in all multiplayer modes during Season 04: Infection.[1]
