- Sangheili combat harness - The combat harness is the ubiquitous armor system available to Sangheili of all ranks. The armor exists in a wide range of colors, and there are slight functional and aesthetic variations.[2][3]
A Sangheili Minor in a combat harness.
- Commando harness - The Commando harness is a lighter and sturdier variant. It is equipped with hardened communications gear and uplink capabilities, for use by Commando Units.[1]
- Flight harness - The Flight harness is a sealed armor destined for pilots of space fighters, such as the Tarasque heavy fighter and the Gigas fighter-bomber.[1]
- Infiltration harnessThe Infiltration harness is an armor equipped with active camouflage technology.[4] As such, it is commonly used by Special Operations and Stealth Sangheili.[5][6]
- Invader harness - The Invader harness was a ceremonial armor used by Sangheili hunting lodges. Since the dissolution of the Covenant, it has been modernized for combat against the Jiralhanae.[7]
- Kaidon harness - The noble Kaidons have donned a variety of ceremonial battledresses with different styles and colors throughout Sangheili history.[2][8][9]
- Outrider harness - The Outrider harness is an upgraded armor destined to improve survivability and effectiveness for its user, especially during risky missions on frontier worlds.[7]
- Ranger harness - The Ranger harness is a sealed armor used for extra-vehicular activity. There are many variations, including some derived from the Assault or Storm platforms.[10][11][12]
- Storm harness - The Storm harness is a variant produced by Lodam Armory originally for specialized shock troopers who operated on frontier worlds. The Storm variant gained prominence during the Sangheili civil war.[2][12]
- Ultra-class armor - The armor is mostly worn by Sangheili Ultras, though it is not restricted to them. It is typically of a glistening white.[13] Some feature secondary red markings and a crested helmet.[5]
- Warrior-class harness - This type of harness is reinforced with a shield-bolstering pauldron system. It also has an accentuated helmet design.[14] The armor is typically golden, signifying a command position.
- Commander-class harness - The Commander-class harness is fielded by Sangheili who were experienced officers of the Covenant.[2][15] It has an ornate helmet very similar to that of the Officer variant.[16]
- Artifact retrieval harness - This harness was used to recover Forerunner artifacts. It has a breathing apparatus that enables breathing in hazardous environments. Sesa 'Refumee's detachment used this set.
- General harness - The harness used by Generals is golden, signifying their role as field masters. It features a command helmet.[17]
- High Councilor harness - The High Councilors were equipped with a large, ornamental helmet.[3] A similar but highly stylized version of this armor was also in use for Imperial Admirals.[18]
- Honor Guard harness - The harness was a highly ornamented, ceremonial equipment issued to Sangheili Honor Guardsmen.[3][19] The elite Lights of Sanghelios wore a bright-white base armor variant, instead of crimson red.[20]
- Officer harness - Contrary to standard Majors who use the combat harness, the Officer subclass is equipped with a more ornate harness and helmet.[21] It exists in dark golden red and matte burgundy.[5][6]
Specialty harnesses
- Arbiter body armor - The Arbiter armors were an extremely rare type of harness only donned by ancient Sangheili judge-kings, and by specific Sangheili appointed by the Hierarchs during the Covenant era.[22][2]

Religious order harnesses
- Hesduros-styled Zealot-class harness - The harness's design is used by Zealots and Kaidons who originate from Hesduros. This traditional armor has a very organic, irregular surface.[24]
- Ceremonial battle harness - The ceremonial battle harness refers to an ornamental armor used by some chapters of Sangheili Zealots.[2][5][6] A variation is also used by the Field Marshal subclass.
- Ascetic harness - The Ascetic harness is an ancient design utilized by a religious order that was reactivated during the Great Schism. It features a traditional bladed mandible guard.[25]
Human history page/section
Pre-UN founding
Circa 97,445 BCE, humans were returned to Earth and watched as the Portal at Voi was buried. N'chala, one of the those ancient humans left an Out-of-place handprint.[26] Around the 5th Millennium BCE, Egypt was formed.[27] In 480 BCE,[28] 300 soldiers from Sparta defended Greece at Thermopylae.[29]
During the Second Punic War at the Battle of Cannae, the Roman Republic fought Hannibal. In the battle, Hannibal employed the pincer maneuver by ordering a tactical retreat of his forces and using horse riders to flank the Romans.[30] In 31 BCE,[31] Marcus Agrippa saved Rome at the Battle of Actium.[32] On August 24, 79 CE, Mount Vesuvius erupts and destroys Pompei.[33]
In 1066, the Battle of Hastings took place and in 1415, the Battle of Agincourt took place.[34] On August 24, 1456, the Gutenberg Bible is printed.[33] In the 1400s, the Hundred Years War took place.[35] In 1597, Admiral Yi Sun-sin defeated a Japanese fleet of 133 vessels with only 13 ships of his own at Myeongnyang Strait.[32]
In 1759, the Battle of Minden took place. This battle became the namesake for a UNSC starship.[36] In 1775,[37] the United States Marine Corps was founded, elements of which would be passed down to the UNSC Marine Corps.[38][37] In the 18th-century, the conical bullet was developed[39] and the piezoelectric effect was discovered.[40]
Over the course of the 18th and 19th-centuries, the colonies of Britain diverged socially and economically resulting in a schism. In one case, a war.[41] During the War of 1812, Oliver Hazard Perry won control of Lake Erie.[32] In 1836,[42] Colonel William Barret Travis and others defended the Alamo.[43]
The American Civil War took place, with tin daguerreotypes that displayed a battlefield with cavalry, cannons and charging men being kept in the Officers' club of the UNSC Gettysburg.[44] The American Civil War was also the first time a team of photographers took images of war.[45]
In the early 20th-century, Pluto in the Sol system was discovered.[46]
World War I saw the first uses of flamethrowers.[38] In 1918, during Operation Michael, Oskar von Hutier used shock penetration strategy.[32]
World War II started in 1939.[47] John Forge's family had members fight in World War II.[48] During the war, the British cracked a German encryption scheme.[35] Isoroku Yamamoto crippled the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor.[32] This attack was compared to the 26th-century Fall of Reach by Chief Petty Officer McRobb.[49] The war came to a close with the first usage of human Nuclear weapons at Nagasaki and Hirshima.[37] The bomb at Hiroshima left a domed structure still standing.[50] Following the Second World War, war photography was commonplace.[45] Some in the 26th-century confused World War II, the Hundred Years War, and the Thirty Years War.[35]
A plethora of historic figures from before the UN's founding existed including Chester W. Nimitz, Themistocles, Lysander,[32] Jimmy Doolittle, Lilya Litvyak,[51] Cleopatra, Genghis Khan,[52] and Roland with his sword Durendal.[53]
Several pieces of music from before the UN's founding include the Rachmaninov composed Piano Concerto Number Three[54] and the Mahler composed Symphony No. 2[55] both of which Dr. Halsey listens to. As well, there was the music of the last act of Der Ring des Nibelungen, something Richard Lash was familiar with.[56]
UN era
In 1945, the United Nations was founded.[37] 16 years later, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin would be the first human being to orbit the Earth.[58] Eight years after that, human beings would take their first steps on Luna.[37] During the Cold War, the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile was first created.[59] During the Vietnam War, war photography was used to sway public opinion.[45] On August 24, 1995, Microsoft introduces the Windows 95 operating system.[33] During humanity's early days of space exploration, they used rocket ships and space shuttles.[50]
Around the early 2000s, fringe theories on humanity's origins began to emerge. The Society of the Ancients, believed that aliens had helped humanity construct technologies.[60] Dr. Jonas Volman wrote the book The Castaway Theory, that supposedly brings light to issues in human evolution.[61] The early 21st-century also saw the first planetary confirmations of what would eventually become Reach.[62] The 21st-century also saw the legal cases of Trustees of Dartmouth College v. Wooward and Citizens Unitd v. FEC.[63] In 2021, the International Society of Civil Engineers was formed.[64] In the 21st-century, fighter jets were used as well stealth bombers and passenger aircraft.[65]
The United Nations first established the Unified Earth Government in 2075.[66] Luna, Mars, the Jovian Moons and several asteroids would first be settled by humans in 2080.[67] 2090 and 2103 also saw the ends of large scale conflicts.[68] In the 2100s, the British Houses of Parliament were destroyed in a domestic terrorist act.[69]
In response to the rising Koslovics, the recently formed Friedens bombed an embassy in Thynia, Europa in 2158.[70] The Jovian Moons Campaign, Rainforest Wars, Battle of Delambre, Mars Campaign and finally, the Interplanetary War all came from the continued clashes between these factions. Sometimes these separate conflicts are collectively referred to as the Interplanetary war.[38] The 22nd-century also saw the court case The People v. Asklon Light Atomics.[63]
