"You deserve the truth. The enemy is at our gates... their numbers are overwhelming. Any Marine who makes this stand with us will not survive the day. For every moment that we hold the enemy at bay, more innocent people can escape—when they do, they will go forth and tell the story that you write today. You will be remembered."

— Admiral Jacob Keyes during the Fall of Reach.

The Human-Covenant war or Covenant War was a conflict between the Covenant and the United Nations Space Command.

History

Earlier parts of the war

Several events took place prior to DEFIANT GLASS. Harvest was glassed by the Covenant prior to 2540. As well, Operations FALLEN WALLS, HORIZON, and IRON FIST all took place as well. The Covenant would also arrive at Oban and, using a luminary, locate and kidnap a young Makee.

The Office of Naval Intelligence would first spot High Charity over Harvest in 2540 and designated locating and assessing it a priority task.

Madrigal and the keystones
