The 40mm High Explosive Dual-Purpose (HEDP) Grenade is a munitions type utilized exclusively by the M319 Individual Grenade Launcher.

Overview

The 40mm grenade has two detonation modes, depending upon the way it is detonated after firing. The first detonation mode, upon being fired, bounces off a surface once, or when it strikes an organic target, will detonate almost immediately, causing an instant kill. The second detonation mode results in a delayed detonation, usually when the user takes their finger off the trigger after holding it down for a time. Additionally, the grenade is capable of emitting an electromagnetic pulse, so when detonated in close proximity to a mechanical target, like a Wraith, a Ghost, or a Rizvum-pattern Revenant, the targeted vehicle will power down temporarily.
