Feature(s):

The flight harness is an armor system used by the Sangheili soldiers of the Covenant and its splinter groups. It is specialized for pilots of Covenant strikecraft.[1]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

While structurally similar to the assault harness, the flight harness has a very different function. Its helmet is designed to optimize interactions with space fighters, bearing a hyper-wave link.[1] The eye lenses are thin but extend a significant distance along the sides of the helmet, most likely to increase the field of view of the user. The helmet is vacuum-sealed, with no separate mandible guards but instead armor plates that approximate the positions of the mandibles.[2]

Uniquely among Sangheili harness designs, the pauldrons of the flight harness are semicircular. This reduces their impact on the wearer's range of motion, and decreases fatigue during long periods spent inside cramped spacecraft cockpits, such as in multi-phase interdictions.[1] The thoracic cage is similar to that of a standard combat harness but is less cumbersome and features an "I" shaped plate in the sternum region with a series of V shaped lights running down its length.[2]

The body armor includes an explicit primary environment multi-port to interface with strikecraft, which is less restrictive than using an older mouthpiece-based multi-port. However, the flight harness still includes the latter to remain compatible with Keljiric-pattern Tarasque heavy fighters and N'weo-pattern Gigas fighter-bombers.[1]

Usage[edit]

The flight harness is used by Sangheili strikecraft pilots.

In-game information[edit]

Halo 3[edit]

The Flight harness is unlockable as an armor permutation for Elite characters in Halo 3.

Flight
Helmet: Sealed helmet equipped with hyper-wave link for cleaner craft interaction; mouth piece retains multi-port for use in older TARASQUE heavy fighters and GIGAS fighter-bombers. Earn the Campaign Complete: Heroic achievement. Unlocked by default.
Chest: Less cumbersome cage utilizing aligned composites postpones onset of fatigue: explicit primary environment multi-port less restrictive then the older helmet based multi-port. Complete Tsavo Highway on Heroic difficulty.
Shoulders: Compact deltoid protection has less impact on range of motion in cramped crew area of subliminal military craft: decrease overall fatigue during multi - phase interdiction missions. Complete The Ark on Heroic difficulty.
MCC: Retains multi-port for use in older TARASQUE heavy fighters and GIGAS fighter-bombers. N/A
