Official summary[edit]

“As Sergeant Michael Baird undergoes cancer treatment aboard The Heart of Midlothian, an elite Covenant boarding party kills the UNSC ship’s entire crew. Awakening as the sole survivor, the ship’s AI recruits Baird to initiate the Cole Protocol and protect humanity—whatever the cost.”

Originally published as a short story in the Halo: Evolutions anthology, written by Frank O’Connor, ‘Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian’ was adapted as an animated motion comic by Juan “ONE” Richard Feliz in 2010.[1]

Production notes[edit]

Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian was the first story from Halo: Evolutions to be adapted into a motion comic because it was the simplest story to adapt, as it took place in one location and allowed for experimentation without risking a more elaborate story. The motion comic is a linear and direct adaptation of the short story, unlike the next adaptation 343 Industries would produce, Halo: The Return, as that story required more thought put into visualising the feeling and emotion of its protagonist.[2]

Michael Baird was voiced by Leonard Meyer and Mo Ye was voiced by Mona Marshall.[7]
