Halo: Headhunters[2] is a motion comic produced by MoreFrames and adapted from the short story of the same name written by Jonathan Goff originally featured in Halo: Evolutions. The series was originally premiered on the Halo Waypoint website in three episodes released weekly beginning on June 18, 2011.[3] It was later made available for purchase on Zune marketplace for purchase on January 28, 2012.[4]
On December 4, 2025, the animation was officially uploaded to the Halo YouTube channel, coinciding with the release of the novel Halo: Edge of Dawn featuring Jega 'Rdomnai, a character who first debuted in Headhunters.[2] The short is also notable for debuting the visual design of the Silent Shadow alongside two MJOLNIR armor designs later featured in Halo Infinite's Last Stand update: Scarred Comet and Liberator.[5]

Production notes[edit]
In the short story, Roland covers Jonah with a Covenant carbine, firing three shots into a Elite's head and then expending the rest of his magazine on the remaining hostiles. In the motion comic, Roland dispatches the Sangheili with a single shot from a particle beam rifle, then kills the remaining hostiles with single shots. Roland's particle beam rifle emits the distinctive report of the Covenant carbine when fired.
