Main menu

The Main Menu is a series of other menus and lobbies interacted with in all Halo games. A number of modes and gametypes including campaign, multiplayer, firefight, Spartan Ops, Warzone, Custom games, Theater, Forge, and File Share are accessed through it. Settings and options menus where Control Schemes can be changed can be accessed as well. Downloadable content such as new campaigns can be directly accessed through these menus.

Customization

In some games, the ability to see one's unlocked REQs or unlocked Blitz cards can be found here; on top of purchasing related packs. Skins for weapons and vehicles can also be changed from the Main menu. Armor permutations can be changed as well.

Pre-release

In the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta, the menu was set in an orbital facility of some kind (the skybox of which is used on Breakout Arena) with SPARTAN-IVs, Naval personnel, and scientists at various computer and hologram stations.

Musically, the menu opens with parts of Osiris Suite, Act 1, then moves into On Deck, before finally playing parts of Osiris Suite, Act 4. The music will repeat in that order.

Release

The menu consists of a profile shot of the UNSC Infinity in orbit of an unknown planet. Various UNSC starships and dropships will fly by, dock or move about the Infinity. These include Anlace-class frigates, Winter-class prowlers and D79-TC Pelicans.

When getting to the start screen and for a time afterward, Halo Canticles will play. The music will then rotate through Rock and Ice, about a minute of Blue Team, Dominion, the first minute of Jameson Locke, about a minute of Osiris Suite, Act 3, and two minutes of Osiris Suite, Act 4. After returning to the menu from playing a multiplayer match, On Deck will play. If sat on the main menu for long enough, the Floating Grunt easter egg will play out.

  • Jersey Morelli and Janissary James - New Jersey
    • Chapter 9 mentions Kamal needing to head to New Jersey. This is in reference to having to go meet Jersey Morelli. This is reiterated in Chapter 10 with Kamal being told that a driver at Jerry's Diner (possibly in Pittsburgh) will take him to New Jersey. When Kamal and Jersey meet, Jersey makes a sarcastic remark about heading to Atlantic City. When Jersey meets Rani in Boston in Chapter 10, he has NYC on his bags, something that Rani notices immediately. Also, he has an NYC accent something that Jersey himself mentions. As for Janissary, Jersey and Janissary live in the same building as mentioned in Chapter 1. Also when Durga brings up the emergency call it is for Bergen County, New Jersey which is on the western banks of the Hudson in the NYC area.
  • Rani Sobeck - Boston, Kentucky, and Washington DC
    • Sarah and Rani talk about leaving Boston in Chapter 10.

other info

  • Chapter 9, public health law requires people to be tested for intestinal TB if they are exposed to it. Testing costs money
  • Chapter 10, people not from Earth referred to as colonial. Jersey turned 18 in June of that year.
