UNSC Allegiance is a frigate in the UNSC Navy. It participated in the battle of Sigma Octanus IV in July 2552.[1]
Service history[edit]

Allegiance participated in the defence of Sigma Octanus IV on July 17-18, 2552. In the early hours of July 17, Allegiance was one of three warships present in the Sigma Octanus system (alongside the heavy frigate UNSC Gettysburg and light destroyer UNSC Iroquois) when a Covenant invasion force consisting of four warships arrived to attack the colony there. At this time, Allegiance and Gettysburg were both too far from Sigma Octanus IV to assist in its defence, estimated to arrive at the planet in an hour, leaving Iroquois alone to defend the colony using the "Keyes Loop".[2] After Iroquois managed to destroy three of the escort ships in the Covenant battlegroup, the carrier at the heart of the formation broke off to disengage, with Allegiance and Gettysburg set to intercept it.[1]
Production notes[edit]
In the original 2001 release of The Fall of Reach, the ship was called the "Alliance" on page 145 and then called the "Allegiance" on page 154. This has been fixed in the 2010 Definitive Edition of the novel, where the ship is referred to as the Allegiance in both instances.
