This CM 300 frontier rifle is a carbine variant of the MA3 series assault rifles employed by the United Nations Space Command. It is colloquially known as the "Confetti Maker" due to its abnormally high rate of fire.[2]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

The CM 300 was introduced in the late-24th century as a carbine variant of the MA3A assault rifle, intended for use by colonial settlers and security forces. The weapon boasts an extremely high rate of fire leading to its affectionate nickname "Confetti Maker"[2], and are grossly inaccurate at any kind of appreciable range[3], with an effective range of 30 metres.[1]

Ammunition[edit]

The carbine fires 7.62mm (.30 cal) ammunition, and is compatible with armor piercing rounds such as the MUTA-AP-09334.[3]

Usage[edit]

The CM 300 was originally designed for use by colonists during the Domus Diaspora. The weapon proved to be immensely popular, leading to unlicensed copies to be produced en masse well over a century later. As such, surplus CM 300s were a staple weapon of Insurrectionist forces during the Insurrection and other criminals. A common practice in this manner was to pair the CM 300 carbine with high-capacity magazines for improvised use as a light machine gun.[2]

Though retired from UNSC service, it had become popular on the black market by 2531. In that year the Confetti Maker served as the standard weapon of the United Rebel Front cell led by General Howard Graves on the planet Victoria.[3]
