The Killing Spree Medal is awarded for killing 5 opponents in a row without dying in multiplayer and Spartan Ops. In campaign and Firefight it is awarded for killing 10 opponents in a row without dying. This is represented by a steel 4-sided star with a cyan target in the middle. When someone gets this medal the announcer will shout "Killing Spree!" to the player that received this medal. In Halo: Combat Evolved, because there are no medals, if a player kills five opponents in a row without dying, they will still hear the announcer, but instead see "Killing Spree!" in the upper left of the screen.

Trivia

  • In Halo 3 the highest spree possible is 255 kills. Even if you get more kills after that number, without dying, it will still say that your highest spree was 255 kills. This is most likely because 255 is the maximum value representable by an eight-digit binary number, and therefore the maximum representable by an unsigned 8-bit byte. [1]
  • Unusually, one can get a Killing Spree from betraying teammates.
  • Earning this medal in a Halo 2 Vista multiplayer game unlocks the Killing Spree achievement.
  • Earning this medal in a Halo: Reach multiplayer matchmaking game unlocks the What's a Killing Spree? achievement.
  • The medal has a Bungie difficulty rating of 6 out of 10.[2]
