The Yappening was a multiplayer event held for Halo Infinite. The final major event of Season 02: Lone Wolves, The Yappening began on September 6, 2022 and lasted through to September 20, 2022. A tie-in blog post was posted on Halo Waypoint by Flipflop, one of Yapyap's disciples, who's now working with the UNSC. The Yappening was directly followed by Winter Contingency II during the Winter Update, with the event's theme continuing through The Yappening II in March of 2024.

Methane Menagerie playlist[edit]
The Yappening is focused on the Methane Menagerie playlist, and consisted of several unique gametypes:[1]

- BTB Fiesta Total Control
- BTB Shotty Snipes
- BTB Skockets Slayer
- BTB Team Snipers
The Yappening content[edit]
The Yappening's content could originally be earned through a 10 tier event pass over the course of its two week tenure. Ten of the twenty weekly challenges would be replaced with event-specific challenges, each rewarding an additional 100 XP, and a level up in the pass upon completion. While previous events had challenges exclusive to Fiesta or Attrition for example, The Yappening's were exclusive to the Methane Menagerie playlist.
Visor options available during The Yappening's tenure were naturally available on all armor cores as it followed the August, 2022 drop pod in Season 02: Lone Wolves. All armor and weapon coatings would be made available on all of their respective cores with the release of Fleetcom in July of the 2024. Rewards earned through The Yappening's event pass would eventually be added to the Exchange during Banished Honor and Anvil in 2024 and 2025.
