Assault on the Control Room is the fifth campaign level in Halo: Campaign Evolved. It is a remake of a level of the same name originally in Halo: Combat Evolved.

{Cutscene}

In an unknown large chasm of Halo, a group of idle Unggoy stand at guard and converse. A loud noise slowly approaches as the two standing guard at the door flee and run, screaming in fear at the approach of Pelican Echo 419, the other two still oblivious with their backs facing it. The Pelican rises up from the chasm and the Unggoy Major turns around and shakes in fear. Flight Captain Carol Rawley, in the cockpit, smiles and gives the alien a taunting salute as she turns the dropship around, revealing the Master Chief at the ready in the troop bay. He aims his MA5B assault rifle as the Grunt flees.

{Gameplay}

I Would Have Been Your Daddy

• Rawley (COM): "This is as far as I can go."

• Cortana (COM): "Roger that. We'll be able to find our way to the Control Center from here."

• Rawley (COM): "Good luck. Foehammer out."

The Master Chief disembarks, a Sangheili soldier emerges from the hallway with the now-emboldened Grunts.

• Cortana: "The Covenant presence here is stronger than I anticipated. They seem to have the entire region secured."

The Master Chief secures the area and moves into a circular room with more Covenant. Small arrow-shaped lights decorate parts of the floor and seem to point a path.

• Cortana: "Huh. These lights seem to be responding to our proximity and guiding us to the exit."

Clearing the room, the Master Chief emerges onto a large metallic bridge suspended in a deep, snowy canyon by two thin energy light beams. Covenant Shade turrets are set up, but most of the Unggoy are asleep, while Sangheili and Kig-Yar actively patrol.

• Cortana: "Interesting. The weather patterns seem natural, not artificial. I wonder if the ring's environment systems are malfunctioning… or if the designers WANTED the installation to have inclement weather."

Note: “Zulu Leader” is used in place of Bisenti, who is captioned with the following lines. However, Bisenti is canonically missing with Johnson’s squad at this time.

• Zulu Leader (COM): "This is Fireteam Zulu! Can anyone hear me? We've got Covenant all over us! Can anyone hear me?! Over."

• Cortana (COM): "Cortana to Fireteam Zulu. I read you."

Fireteam Zulu's Pelican flies overhead, carrying a Warthog. It begins to descend past the bridge. The Covenant are alerted.
