Halopedia doesn't currently have a walkthrough for this level; could you write one?

Stage a one-cyborg assault on a Covenant ship and bring back the Captain.

Keyes is the ninth campaign level in Halo: Campaign Evolved. It is a remake of a level of the same name originally in Halo: Combat Evolved.

Differences from the original game

Help.png This section is a stub. You can help Halopedia by expanding it.
  • Captain Keyes’ various lines from the original script occur much earlier, as well as Cortana’s corresponding responses. However, Keyes has a few more lines that are callbacks to his infection scenes and his Terminal from both Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo: The Flood, such as hallucinations of Catherine Halsey that he attempts to speak to and attempting to recite his service number.
  • The cutscene of the Master Chief exiting the ship into the coolant pool has been removed, as has the return via gravity lift. This instead all occurs directly in gameplay.
  • The coolant pools beneath the ship are significantly more shallow, preventing the player from being submerged.
  • When the Master Chief finds Keyes in the Proto-Gravemind, he initially inquires as to how to free him, not realizing the extent of Keyes’ assimilation. Keyes also appears to weakly move as if alive. Instead of punching through Keyes’ skull from the front, the Master Chief instead forcefully tears his neural implants directly from the back of his head, putting Keyes out of his misery and laying said implants for Cortana to download.
  • The Flood Friends that was seen at the start of the mission is changed from that of a Sangheili attacker form into a human attacker form.
    • On Legendary, this attacker form is replaced with a Flood tank form instead.
  • During the section with the two Hunters, a Kig-Yar Sniper is present in the area where the player would normally find an SRS99C-S2 AM sniper rifle. Additionally, two flood tank forms are present, while the carrier forms themselves are redistributed across the arena.
  • Like the previous three missions, the Truth and Reconciliation is overrun with Flood biomass, though to a much larger extent, taking over most of the control room and spreading throughout the ground beneath the ship.
  • Halfway through the outdoor section, Cortana will suggest to wait for the Covenant and Flood to thin each other’s ranks before proceeding.
  • There is a secret timed section in the outdoor portion of the mission to obtain the Catch Skull. This warrants largely speedrunning past enemies and requires at least a Heroic difficulty. Most skulls are able to be used, but the Acrophobia Skull prevents it from spawning. The player must clear out the gravity lift landing pad and hold down the button to pick up the skull in a very brief window.
  • The body of the Proto-Gravemind appears to possibly be growing a large mouth lined with large, sharp teeth, reminiscent of that of a full Gravemind.
