Differences from the original game

- The player can come across unique ocean fauna in the shallow waters around the island. These stationary creatures appear to be similar to both real-world Earth sea urchins and the crown-of-thorns starfish. Crabs can also be seen walking around the beach, remarkably similar to present-day Earth crabs. Many birds can also be observed in the sky around the island.
- The opening cutscene features a larger battle, including one of the Pelicans being shot down and Echo 419 destroying a Spirit dropship as well as gunning down several Covenant troops.
- An invisible barrier prevents the player from moving past the shallow waters around the island.
- There is no longer a tree blocking the center of the path toward the security override center, thus allowing the player to potentially drive their Warthog to the island’s interior.
- In the run for the surface, the Sangheili Zealot instead appears in the hallway above the ramp rather than the hallway behind the previously locked door. Furthermore, the music will segue into the guitar section of Rock Anthem for Saving the World upon this encounter.
- The surviving marines are no longer automatically killed by the dropships between their call and Master Chief’s return from the Map Room, and can be found alive and well on the beach. This also applies to any marines that accompanied the Master Chief via Warthog to the Silent Cartographer facility. Sometimes, marines left near the map room entrance will make remarks as if forgiving the player for team killing for unknown reasons.
- Some of Sergeant Stacker’s previous lines are now spoken by Fitzgerald.
