Differences from the original game[edit]

Help.png This section is a stub. You can help Halopedia by expanding it.
  • Frye can be seen in the cockpit of Echo 419 in the opening and ending cutscenes.
  • SMGs can be recovered from the crash site of Victor 933.
  • Both Victor 933 and the crashed Spirit dropship are visibly damaged.
  • The active camouflage module underneath the pipe right of the tree bridge is removed.
  • The facility entrance now has numerous blood streaks and burn marks.
  • The facility doors now bear Forerunner symbols instead of lights denoting whether they’re locked or not.
  • The hallways between the large chambers in the facility are simplified. Rather than being a rectangular circuit with a door on each face, they are now either a cross-shaped corridor or an L-shaped hallway.
  • Some of the barricaded rooms with dead Covenant can be entered, as there is no center crate blocking the door.
  • The Crazy Marine has a different set of animations; before the Master Chief approaches him, he is standing near the edge of the wall with his pistol raised. Once the Master Chief enters the room, the marine turns around and fall on his back. In the original game, the marine is simply seated against the wall. He also does not target the Master Chief in particular or even look at him, but will periodically fire at a fixed part of the doorway.
  • Flood biomass can be seen throughout the facility. This is first seen in the room before the first Flood ambush, where very large amounts are present and can be seen onward, particularly as the player descends further in the downward elevator and the area of the broken light bridge.
  • The locked door with Jenkins’ recording appears to have been heavily damaged, and despite being unlocked by the spoofer device, the Master Chief is forced to pry it open. The door is intact in the recording, implying that the damage was done during the Flood ambush or the dead marine was attempting to force it to open.
  • When the Master Chief finds Mendoza’s body, he is wearing the standard Marine BDU rather than the bucket hat and fatigues as seen in previous versions. Additionally, his name is seen on the back of his helmet.
  • The bodies of multiple Marines, including Jenkins, are present in the room during the cutscene; in the original, only their weapons and Jenkins' helmet remained while the bodies were absent, presumably having been transformed into combat forms. The bodies are still absent in gameplay.
  • Two scenes in Jenkins’ recording cutscene are condensed into one scene and changed. When the marines find the locked door, Johnson gives the order to unlock it rather than Keyes, who is not yet present. Unlike Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary which seems to reinforces Kappus’ role from Halo: The Flood, it is once again Mendoza rather than Kappus who breaches the door. The mangled Sangheili corpses are found in this room, which is also where Captain Keyes arrives and the ambush by the Flood takes place.
  • Captain Keyes wears full marine armor minus the helmet in his appearance, rather than the fatigues as seen in Halo: Combat Evolved or the uniform in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
  • In the recording, Jenkins now focuses on Bisenti, who—rather than fighting the Flood off-screen—is knocked over and killed by the pod infector that killed Riley; Bisenti's death appears to startle Mendoza, who then flees from the battle.
  • Mendoza runs into both Jenkins and Keyes when he flees from the battle.
  • Jenkins’ helmet is knocked off after being lunged at from behind by a pod infector, the camera then sees Jenkins struggling as it begins to infect him.
  • After watching the recording, the Master Chief crushes the memory chip in his fist rather than toss it away.
  • Human attacker forms are encountered much earlier. Instead of first being found after the elevator, an infected marine will appear from one of the locked doors during the first Flood encounter, while a second infected marine will appear at the top of the blood-soaked ramp after leaving the room, near where the previously uninfected marine corpse was.
  • A series of navigation points appear after escaping from the locked room, leading the Master Chief back to the now-damaged elevator that he took from the surface.
  • On Legendary, Shotguns can be found among the dead marines not long before the elevator that descends into facility’s lower floors. In the original game, the shotgun is not available to the Master Chief on Legendary until he can recover one from defeated enemies in the lower floors.
  • There is no shaft above the elevator that descends into the lower floors, making it quite clear that it will descend instead of misdirecting players into thinking it could take them to the surface.
  • The marines and Kig-Yar who fought together against the Flood no longer appear on top of a lone platform, instead appearing on a walkway in the corner opposite of the room’s exit.
  • The marines encountered at the end of the level all carry human weapons instead of a mix of human and Covenant weapons.
  • Upon exiting the facility, Echo 419 flies overhead with its searchlight, then hovers around the tower structure.
  • Instead of a sudden ending, the mission ends when the Flood is eliminated in the area while waiting for Foehammer where the Sentinels are first encountered. A surviving marine, usually Dubbo, will announce the end of the firefight before the cutscene in which 343 Guilty Spark teleports John-117 away.
  • In the ending cutscene, rather than teleporting John-117 to a ledge on the tower structure before talking to him, 343 Guilty Spark flies towards John-117 at ground level to speak with the Spartan. The cutscene also now depicts Foehammer’s reaction in-person before cutting to black.

Trivia[edit]

  • In a corner of one of the rooms near the entrance to the facility, the corpse of a Marine can be found with two M7 SMGs placed alongside him, as if he was wielding them both before his death. This may be a reference to dual wielding.
