Campaign[edit]
The SMG is a new weapon in Halo: Campaign Evolved, primarily being featured within the game's Operation: METEORITE prequel levels, although it makes sparing appearances within the main campaign, being wielded by Marines and human combat forms in levels featuring the Flood. It performs similarly to the Assault Rifle featured in the original game, boasting a magazine of 60 rounds and a high rate-of-fire that makes it effective in close-quarters. Unlike its predecessors, the weapon can not be dual wielded, although it still has a massive reserve of 360 spare rounds—the same as dual-wielded SMGs in Halo 2 and Halo 3.[2]
The SMG of Campaign Evolved features a bloom mechanic similar to the Assault Rifle and Halo 2: Anniversary's suppressed SMG, although its impact on the player's accuracy under sustained fire is minimal; it also features headshot multipliers that allow the weapon to shred through unshielded opponents. The wide spread of the weapon's fire is disadvantageous when precision is needed, but allows it to be very effective against Flood infection forms.[1]
Like all other weapons within Campaign Evolved, the SMG possesses a newly added scope. This scope is a 1.4x magnification zoom that increases the player's range, and also features no descope upon taking damage. Uniquely, the SMG's ammo pool is only able to be restocked through other SMG pickups within Campaign Evolved. Ammo pickups found on the ground during certain levels such as Halo will not restock ammo for this weapon, and this should be taken into account for games run under the Campaign Remix menu option.

Notes[edit]
- ^ The ROF value listed in the SMG tag is 18 rounds-per-second. However, due to technical issues in the Halo: Reach iteration of the Blam engine upon which Campaign Evolved is built, this value is impossible, and so the engine defaults to 15 instead.[1]
