The Weapon/Anti-Vehicle Model 6/X Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle (W/AV M6/X G/GNR), colloquially known as the M6/X Spartan Laser, is a variant of the M6 Spartan Laser directed-energy weapon manufactured by Misriah Armory and used by the United Nations Space Command.[1]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

Main article: M6 Spartan Laser

The M6/X Spartan Laser is one of a myriad of variants of the M6Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Rifle, an initially exorbitantly expensive weapon which underwent several refinements and iterations to reduce its cost.[4] As with all variants of the Spartan Laser, the M6/X has an integrated and smart-linked Wyrd III optics suite, capable of 3× magnification.[1] The weapon is also equipped with a foldable targeting display on its side, much like the M6/V Spartan Laser.[3] Powered by Series 6971 battery cells,[3][4] the M6/X employs an experimental alternating power distributor that was considered a revolutionary modification.[1]

Usage[edit]

The M6/X is effective at both anti-vehicle and anti-personnel roles,[2] and was employed by UNSC expeditionary forces.[1] Following the Human-Covenant War, in 2557, the M6/X was carried onboard Ivanoff Station situated near Installation 03.[7] When UNSC Infinity returned to Requiem in 2558, its detachment of UNSC Marine Corps and Spartan-IVs made use of the M6/X in the ensuing campaign.

Gameplay[edit]

Main article: Spartan Laser

The M6/X Spartan Laser is featured in Halo 4 as a usable weapon known as the Spartan Laser. It is a power weapon, which fires a powerful laser that deals an incredible amount of damage, destroying all vehicles with a single well-placed shot. The Spartan Laser is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and to compensate, it has a limited use of four shots, a short cooldown after a discharge, and inability to pick up ammo.

Production notes[edit]

The M6/X Spartan Laser has an electric shock warning of 1.21 gigawatts, in reference to the DeLorean time machine from the Back to the Future series. The laser aperture warning decals say, "Big Scary Laser: Do not look into beam with remaining eye."
