Constructors are devices--similar to Sentinels in design--that mainly repair damage to any Forerunner structure they can find, using weak energy beams similar to Sentinel Beams. The beams are small and blue, and are harmful if they come into contact with an organism. This is unknown whether they will harm the Constructor itself, though.
Constructor Sentinels are drones programmed to repair any damaged Forerunner structure they can find, using low-tuned reconstitution emitters. These reconstitution beams are fired from either the top half, the middle or the bottom half of the Constructor. The beams can also be used to open Cryptums or lower the shields on pistons, allowing them to access the tunnel networks built within the Sentinel Wall. Although weak, one of these beams can harm an organism if they come in contact with it.

Sentinels will come to a Constructor's aid if it is being attacked, as Constructors are ill-suited for combat, having no weapon systems of their own. However, their beams can cause damage to the player if he gets caught in its path (on Legendary difficulty their beams can kill in seconds). They also use their beams to lower the shields on Pistons, allowing them to move throughout the Sentinel Wall quickly.
Constructors can also play the role of a security grid. When a Constructor is attacked, a signal is automatically sent to Sentinel launchers to begin deploying Aggressors. ==Appearance==
One or more Constructors will often be summoned if something within their facility is damaged. Once attracted, they appear to require little prompting to follow someone seeking their assistance, as Fireteam Osiris simply had to state that they had a task for a Constructor to get it to follow them, with no other obvious methods of coercion being used. Constructors can be programmed for other tasks such as awakening a Guardian with little difficulty, being reprogrammed within minutes rather than hours or days as might be expected to happen with other technology.
The Constructors first appeared in the beginning of The Library although only one or two can be seen floating around the corridors and into the air shafts. They also appeared in the opening moments of "Sacred Icon", where a swarm of them flies about trying to fix the platform you start on, then moves away further into the Sentinel Wall. They don't really affect anything in game, they show red on your reticule and you may shoot them if you like, although they won't bother you. If you jump in front of one in the beginning of "Sacred Icon", you can get hurt, though very little, by their thin beams depending on the difficulty level you are playing on.

In Halo 2, they first appear in The Sacred Icon, exactly beside where Arbiter stands after he was dropped off from his Phantom. They were repairing the destroyed edge and left after a while. Attacking them will result in being attacked by Sentinels. Then in the Quarantine Zone level, they appear at the end of the level when the player fights Flood-controlled Scorpion and Wraith tanks along with many Flood using Covenant Ghosts and a Spectre, and two Sentinel Enforcers fight against the Flood near a downed Human Pelican dropship. During all this chaos, if the player watches one of the large and deep trenches, a large cloud of Constructors fly off into the sky.

Constructors make their first appearance in the Halo 2 level Sacred Icon, exactly beside where Thel 'Vadamee stands after he is dropped off from his Phantom. They are repairing the destroyed edge and will leave after a while, or if the Arbiter approaches them. Attacking them will result in being attacked by Aggressors.

In Halo 3, Constructors appear in some levels based on the Ark. In the campaign, they appear in the level The Ark, where they are seen inside Forerunner structures including inside the wall to the Cartographer and the map room itself. In multiplayer maps Isolation and Construct, small groups of Constructors can be seen flying around in the distance. Also, in Halo 3, a small easter egg can be witnessed if a player watches one of the groups of constructors on the multiplayer map Construct. They will fly normally for a while, but when they near a wall, they will hop like bunnies, before passing out of the map, and to a destination unknown, possibly re-spawning on the other side. You can destroy them and the Sentinels in the level.
In the level Quarantine Zone, they appear at the end of the level when the player fights the Flood-controlled Scorpion and Wraiths along with many Flood combat forms using Covenant Ghosts and two Enforcers fight against the Flood near a downed UNSC Pelican dropship. If the player watches one of the large and deep trenches, a large cloud of Constructors can be seen flying off into the sky.

*Sentinels have been seen using the Construction Beam in the level The Arbiter.
In Halo 3, they appear in the level The Ark, where they are seen inside Forerunner structures, including inside the wall to the Cartographer and the map room itself.
*In the Halo 2 level Sacred Icon, Constructors will open the Pistons for you if they are near them.
*On the level Sacred Icon, where you find the Grunt and the Jackal, if you look off the side into the chasm you will see an endless stream of constructors coming out of a bright hole in the wall.
*On Isolation and Construct the Constructors can be sniped, though their small size and constant movement make this difficult.
*In Halo 2 and Halo 3, even though Constructors do not attack you, your weapon reticule will turn red when passed over them.
*A player can get up close and even touch a Constructor on Construct. First he/she must overload the map with trip mines. When the map is overloaded the player must go through the hole where the purple lift beams are projected. A player then can easy be touched by a Constructor but cannot be moved. They can be destroyed, mainly with a Spartan Laser or a Flamethrower. Note that even when one is destroyed another immediately replaced it in the same place. So in other words, you will see the debris from a destroyed Constructor fall from a full and complete one.
*In Halo 2, the Constructor's beam light is on the top part of its structure, whereas in Halo 3 the light is on the bottom half.
*Constructors appear to be able to compact into a smaller form, as their top and bottom halves appear to latch together. However, this has yet to be seen.
*On the level Sacred Icon, Constructors will scurry away from you if you approach them. If you attack them though, nearby Sentinels will attack you.

In Halo 5: Guardians, Constructors play a significant role in the campaign. In the level Unconfirmed, Fireteam Osiris encountered Constructors in the mines on Meridian near where the Guardian was. Later, in the level Enemy Lines, Fireteam Osiris is tasked with acquiring a Constructor in order to activate the Guardian on Sanghelios. Osiris is able to find one in a support facility for the Guardian, attracting its attention by damaging a terminal in the facility. Dr. Catherine Halsey is then able to use Forerunner technology in the area to program the Constructor with the recording made of the Guardian on Meridian. Though Halsey thought it would take hours to days, the Constructor is programmed quickly and flies off to awaken the Guardian.

In the final mission Guardians, Genesis Monitor 031 Exuberant Witness summons a swarm of Constructors to retrieve the Cryptum that Blue Team was trapped in by Cortana after Osiris manages to restore control over Genesis to Exuberant Witness. Under the control of Exuberant Witness, they use their beams to open the Cryptum and free the Spartans of Blue Team.

"They are Sentinels, but they were built by the Forerunners to exact repair where needed."
Shipmaster N'tho 'Sraom[2]

Constructor Sentinels are a specialized variant of Sentinel whose main function is to repair damaged Forerunner structures.[1][3] These small utility drones operate in coordinated groups to diagnose basic faults, weave minor repairs into existing structures, and retune hard light structural elements. Vast numbers of Constructor Sentinels may cooperate with Strato-Sentinels to complete large-scale repair operations.[1] If a Constructor Sentinel is attacked, Aggressor Sentinels will often come to their aid, as they have no weapon systems of their own to defend themselves.[3]

Operation[edit]

Constructor Sentinels are drones programmed to repair any damaged Forerunner structure they can find, using low-tuned reconstitution emitters.[1] These reconstitution beams are fired from either the top half, the middle or the bottom half of the Constructor.[Note 1] The beams can also be used to open Cryptums[4] or lower the shields on pistons, allowing them to access the tunnel networks built within the Sentinel Wall.[3][5] Although weak, one of these beams can harm an organism if they come in contact with it.[3]

Constructors can also play the role of a security grid. When a Constructor is attacked, a signal is automatically sent to Sentinel launchers to begin deploying Aggressors. For this reason, they form an excellent security perimeter. However, with no weapons systems of their own, the Constructors must rely on Aggressors when threatened.[3]

One or more Constructors will often be summoned if something within their facility is damaged. Once attracted, they appear to require little prompting to follow someone seeking their assistance, as Fireteam Osiris simply had to state that they had a task for a Constructor to get it to follow them, with no other obvious methods of coercion being used.[6] Constructors can be programmed for other tasks such as awakening a Guardian with little difficulty, being reprogrammed within minutes rather than hours or days as might be expected to happen with other technology.[7]

Appearances[edit]

Halo 2[edit]

Two Aggressor Sentinels and a Constructor Sentinel on Installation 05.
A Constructor alongside two Aggressors on Sacred Icon.

Halo 3[edit]

In Halo 3, they appear in the level The Ark, where they are seen inside Forerunner structures, including inside the wall to the Cartographer and the map room itself.

They can be also found in the multiplayer maps of Isolation and Construct, where they can be seen flying around in the distance.

With the addition of the Halo Online multiplayer map Edge to the Halo component of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a flock of Constructors can be found maintaining the databanks in the rear of the Forerunner structure where the map is set.

Halo 5: Guardians[edit]

In Halo 5: Guardians, Constructors play a significant role in the campaign. In the level Unconfirmed, Fireteam Osiris encountered Constructors in the mines on Meridian near where the Guardian was. Though the team noted that the Constructors were similar in design to a Monitor, they were non-communicative and uninterested in the humans, so Jameson Locke ordered his team to keep an eye on the Constructors but to otherwise ignore them.

Trivia[edit]

 • On Isolation and Construct, the Constructors can be sniped, though their small size and constant movement make this difficult.
 • In Halo 2 and Halo 3, even though Constructors do not attack you, your weapon reticule will turn red when passed over them.
 • A player can get up close and even touch a Constructor on Construct. First, they must overload the map with trip mines. When the map is overloaded, the player must go through the hole where the purple lift beams are projected. A player then can easily be touched by a Constructor, but cannot be moved. They can be destroyed, mainly with a Spartan Laser or a Flamethrower. Note that even when one is destroyed, another will immediately replace it in the same place. So, in other words, you will see the debris from a destroyed Constructor fall from a full and complete one.
 • In Halo 2, the glow is on the top part of the Constructor. In Halo 3, it is on the bottom.
