Plot synopsis[edit]
The Eridanus Twelve takes the form of several in-universe documents written in the year 2495, in the early stages of the Insurrection, all concerning a group of thieves known as the "Eridanus Twelve". The first document is an official communique within ONI Section Two from Codename: FLY ON THE WALL concerning the Eridanus Twelve and the status of the ongoing Insurrection. FLY ON THE WALL expresses their optimism at the upcoming Operation: CHARLEMAGNE and the deployment of the Orion supersoldiers, and orders that any news of their actions should be suppressed as to avoid them gaining infamy.
The second document consists of a Waypoint news article about the Eridanus Twelve's recent successful heist of several priceless old-Earth artworks including Saturn Devouring His Son, which were being transported to Eridanus II as part of a cultural outreach program by the Unified Earth Government. The third document consists of an email from the Waypoint news editor to the article's writer, noting that the "higher-ups" have ordered the story to be pulled. The editor assumes that the management are waiting for more information to become available, unaware that the media blackout has been ordered by the Office of Naval Intelligence.
At the end of the first document, FLY ON THE WALL orders that if and when the Eridanus Twelve are apprehended, they are to be marooned on the "furthest uncharted world" that can be found. In the earlier story Halo: Ascension on Atropos the fate of the Eridanus Twelve was revealed, stranded on Atropos with the Governors of Contrition.
