The Mgalekgolo Devastator are a powerful Mgalekgolo unit within Jul 'Mdama's Covenant and serve as bosses in Warzone.[1]
History[edit]
Devastators are heavy soldiers used in Jul 'Mdama's Covenant and other Covenant remnants which takes the role of heavy assault and suppression.[1] Within the Covenant Remnant, these are not standard troops. Their role as boss enemies in the simulations reflects their function as elite, heavy shock troops reserved for high-threat scenarios however Mgalekgolo Devastators were also used in certain Warzone simulations as bosses to train SPARTAN-IVs. They where possible used in the Battle for Sanghelios assaulting on Vadam Keep and stationed at Sunaion when the Swords of Sanghelios attacked. The existence of more powerful Hunter variants is consistent with the Covenant Remnant's efforts to develop stronger forces after the collapse of the unified Covenant.
In-game information[edit]
Halo 5: Guardians[edit]
Hunter Devastators spawn in certain Warzone simulations as a standard boss equipped with red armor, or a Mythic boss with white armor. They are more dangerous then their companions including several new abilities such as; Homing projectiles, undodgeable melee attacks and enhanced tactics they however have weak spots on their backs. However only behaviour separates them from their similar ranks.[1] Instead of the predictable charge-and-expose tactic of previous Hunters, Devastators are designed to be more agile and aggressive. This reduces their exposed time and forces players to adopt different tactics. The Devastator's assault cannon fires a heavy, homing fuel rod beam. This advanced tracking technology is an upgrade from standard Hunter assault cannons and is used to great effect against both ground and air targets in Warzone. Devastators are distinguished by their heavier, red-colored armor (or white for Mythic bosses), suggesting additional or reinforced plating. This makes them more resilient to standard attacks. The "Mythic" white-armored Devastators represent the pinnacle of this enhancement, being the most difficult version to defeat. Their existence suggests that certain Lekgolo gestalts or colony leaders are singled out for more extensive modifications, The weapon can track aerial vehicles, making them dangerous against players in the air. The Devastator's assault cannon is highly damaging and fires fuel rod shots. They are highly aggressive and agile, making it harder to flank them. They now possess homing attacks, forcing players to rely more on cover and ranged combat rather than close-quarters strategy.[2]
Trivia[edit]
- The Hunter Devastator was named after a Tagalog word, following a trend in Halo 5 for some Mgalekgolo to be given Filipino names.
- Sometimes commander Sarah Palmer will refer the Devastator as a Remnant Mgalekgolo during the simulations.
