Incident Response and Investigation (IRI) is a branch of the United Nations Space Command created in the wake of the Human-Covenant War.[1]
Overview[edit]
IRI is dedicated to identifying and locating perpetrators. It was originally formed as a response to rampant piracy that sprang up between what remained of the Unified Earth Government's Outer Colonies following the end of the war with the Covenant.[1]
In December 2553, a unit of the IRI stationed aboard the frigate UNSC Swift Justice under Lt. Commander Clovis Petriv investigated an attack on the passenger schooner UNSC Donoma, wherein all of the schooner's occupants had been killed. Petriv was able to visually identify the schooner's dead captain, Laru, due to having a personal history, but the IRI was unable to identify the attackers or access the ship's AI matrix.[1]
