The Super Sentinel is a Forerunner Sentinel variant that is considerably larger than standard Aggressor Sentinels. Like the Enforcer Sentinels, they are deployed to combat large Flood outbreaks, or other considerable threats.[1][2]

Operational history[edit]

Super Sentinels were present during the Battle of Trove in 2531. They were activated when the shield world's artificial intelligence autonomously initiated "Stage 3 Defense Protocols", after large numbers of Flood forms, along with Covenant forces and the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire, were detected. Super Sentinels, along with other Sentinel variants, were tasked with eliminating these targets.[3] Additional Super Sentinels were defending the door interlock during the final stages of the battle. All Super Sentinels on Trove were most likely destroyed along with the entire installation when the star within it went supernova.[4]

In-game information[edit]

Halo Wars[edit]

The Super Sentinel appears in Halo Wars, and serves as a Forerunner "Combat Support" unit. It attacks with a beam of energy that temporarily prevents an enemy ground unit from attacking while reducing its movement speed. However, the beam does not do much damage by itself.[2]

  • Super Sentinel: The Forerunner Super Sentinel has the unique ability to slow down enemy units while preempting their attacks.
    • Cost: Population 2, Tech level 2, Resources 250
    • Purchase cooldown: 30 seconds

Like Aggressor Sentinels, Super Sentinels are built at the Sentinel factory, which appears on the Skirmish maps Repository and Glacial Ravine. Intended to support anti-vehicle and anti-infantry operations, they are unable to engage aircraft, and require Aggressor escorts for aerial protection. On the Skirmish map Labyrinth, the two Forerunner forts at the center of the map are each defended by two Aggressor Sentinels and one Super Sentinel; this marks the only map in which the Super Sentinel appears as a neutral enemy.[2]
