Being a predecessor of the more common C709 Longsword variant used by UNSC Navy, The C712 was a variant introduced for the UNSC Air Force commonly adhered for atmospheric operations, but can be operated in a vacuum. C712's were deployed vastly during the Human-Covenant War defending military assets and delivering high yielding nukes towards Covenant ships. Their most notable battles was during the Battle for Earth where pilots fought tirelessly during space and ground engagements. Longswords still remain in active service far beyond the Human Covenant War as they were seen delivering bombing runs and escorting the Infinity.Citation needed

Armament

The C712 Longsword is a multirole space fighter, and its weapons loadout can be easily modified for different mission requirements. It has eight M9109 coilguns that fire 50mm rounds at enemy fighters and ground forces during tactical strikes.[2] There are four ASGM-10 missiles, which are specialized for use against singleships such as the Covenant Seraph, although they are powerful enough to deal significant damage to targets not protected by energy shields.[3] These are typically housed in a rotary launcher within the internal ordnance bay, to protect the missiles prior to launch. If needed, it can replace its anti-ship missiles with conventional smart bombs, satellites, or special mission payloads.[1]
