The Knight Trio or Four commanders (when Rive is present) is a trio of Promethean Knights that serve the Ur-Didact and the Prometheans.[1] and possibly the Created as commanders.[2]

History

The Trio were originally normal Forerunners they served the Ur-Didact and IsoDidact in the Forerunner-Flood war in defence of the Shield world Trove.[1] In doing so they sacrificed themselves to defend the Monitor 295 Harken Watch.[1] Afterwards and at some point in time the essences of forerunners; Habit-To-Sever, Animus-To-Remain, Malice-Begets-Demise and Endurance-of-Will were discovered by humanity and integrated them into warzone simulations as a group of Knights that served as commanders in the Promethean army. After the formation of the Created they integrated into Cortanas faction and leading the Aggressors into combat.[3][4][5] They were encountered as bosses used to train other Spartans for difficult threats[6]

Gameplay

The Trio consists of three Knight Commanders being; Animus-To-Remain, Habit-To-Sever, and Malice-Begets-Demise with the occasional addition of Rive. When Rive is present they are known as the four Commanders. The Trio spawn together in a group they appeared as enemy AI targets, often during the Firfight variant. They are more durable than standard Promethean Knight, forcing players to coordinate and focus fire to take them down.[6] The trio primarily used LightRifles but would switch to devastating Incineration Cannons in close-quarters combat. As commanders, they had heavy armor and could also deploy autosentry turrets to overwhelm players. Their design served to train Spartans against dangerous threats in the lore, while in-game, they provided players with a challenging boss fight that awarded extra points and "Legendary Takedown" medals for defeating them.[6]
