The Shotgun is a weapon featured in Halo 5: Guardians.
Universe and lore[edit]
- Main article: M45D shotgun
Halo 5: Guardians features the M45D shotgun, a close-assault weapon developed by Misriah Armory that fires 8-Gauge Magnum shells. This particular M45D has been upgraded to feature a holographic projection sight and a Smart-Link controllable choke, neither of which were present in the weapon's previous iteration in Halo 4.
Gameplay[edit]
Counterparts[edit]
Campaign[edit]
The Shotgun is the starting primary weapon of Buck in the first mission of the game, Osiris. After that, he uses an Assault Rifle instead. Kelly also starts with a customized Shotgun, Oathsworn, which is simply a palette swap of the regular Shotgun in the campaign, and thus is statistically identical to one.
Multiplayer and Warzone[edit]
This section is a stub. You can help Halopedia by expanding it.
The Shotgun is the primary starting weapon for players in the Breakout game type, having replaced the SMG as of September 30, 2016. Its Warzone REQ card has a Common rarity and requires
energy to use, while selling it yields
50.
Variants[edit]
Lawgiver[edit]
- Main article: Lawgiver (weapon)
- "Dura lex. Sed lex. Improved Shotgun with increased damage, accuracy, and rate of fire.[1]"
The Lawgiver is an Uncommon REQ variant of the Shotgun that features increased damage, improved accuracy, no vertical recoil, and a slightly higher rate of fire. These traits allow the Lawgiver to be more usable in offensive situations. The weapon's REQ card has a REQ energy cost of
energy and grants
75 when sold.[1]
Blaze of Glory[edit]
- Main article: Blaze of Glory
- "Advanced technology married to brutal simplicity. Advanced Shotgun with Forerunner mechanism to fire fast-moving hardlight projectiles with extra range and anti-vehicle effect. Reloads with a single shell.[2]"
The Blaze of Glory is a Rare REQ variant of the Shotgun that has been modified to use Kinetic Bolts, which grant it even greater range and anti-vehicle capabilities. It has a higher rate of fire and reloads with a single shell, enabling it to return to action more quickly. Any targets killed with this weapon disintegrate in the same manner as if they were killed with a Binary Rifle. The Blaze of Glory's REQ card requires
energy to use and is worth
100 when sold.[2]
The weapon can also be found as a special weapon in the campaign mission Blue Team.
Oathsworn[edit]
- Main article: Oathsworn
- "Memories of loss and dreams of vengeance, sealed in steel and composites. Mythic Shotgun with increased damage, accuracy, and rate of fire. The user's movement speed is also increased while Oathsworn is equipped.[3]"
Oathsworn is an Ultra Rare/Mythic variant of the Shotgun and the personal shotgun of SPARTAN-II Kelly-087. The weapon features increased damage, accuracy, and rate of fire over the standard Shotgun, and it also boosts the user's movement speed. However, its user becomes much easier to spot, as they gain the Speed Boost visual effects when using this weapon. Oathsworn can be requisitioned in Warzone for
energy, provided the player has a spare Oathsworn REQ card. Alternatively, the card can be sold for
150.[3]
In the co-op campaign of Halo 5: Guardians, Oathsworn is the default primary weapon for players playing as Kelly on Blue Team missions. The player playing as Kelly will spawn with the Oathsworn at the start of the level (but not upon respawning). In the campaign, the Oathsworn is mechanically identical to a regular Shotgun, therefore lacking the increased damage, accuracy, and rate of fire, as well as the innate Speed Boost from the multiplayer. It also does not accept ammo from a regular Shotgun.
