Flights are a kind of military organisational unit used for organising aircraft and spacecraft in the United Nations Space Command.

UNSC Air Force[edit]

In the UNSC Air Force, the flight serves as the basic unit for aviation organisation. A single flight consists of 3-4 aircraft and their associated support personnel, which are then in turn grouped into squadrons. Aviation flights are generally identified by a phonetic designation, though will often have an informal nickname too.[1]

Aviation squadrons are broadly analagous to the concept of a talon in the Covenant.

UNSC Navy[edit]

In the UNSC Navy, flights are a unit used for organising small numbers of warships, which in turn are tasked into squadrons. They are used by the UNSC Prowler Corps to organise small groups of stealth ships, with each flight consisting of around four craft of the same class. For example, Ghost Flight consisted of four Razor-class prowlers, all named in theme (IE UNSC Ghost Flag, UNSC Ghost Song, UNSC Ghost Star, and UNSC Ghost Wind).[2] In this regard, they are similar to the navy's tactical formations, which often consist of a similar number of larger vessels (such as frigates and destroyers) which can then be "plugged together" into battle groups.[3]
