- Cleyell is glassed by a remnant of the Covenant. The UNSC Cascadia deploys Army and Marine search-and-rescue teams led by Sergeant Holly Tanaka to relieve the stranded colonists on the surface.[1] After the mission, Captain French recommends Tanaka to the SPARTAN-IV program. She is recruited shortly after by Jun-A266.[2]

Splendid Intention and the twenty-three explorers trapped inside the carrier are lost, and operations at Fathom Station are discontinued.[6]
