Vice Admiral Danforth Whitcomb distinguished himself in the battle and was awarded several decorations for his actions.[1] Unfortunately, the battle was lost and the Covenant eventually glassed the planet. SPARTAN-III Alpha Company fought well in the engagement and were highly distinguished for their actions during the engagement. [2]
