M395 DMR
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Template:Weapon Infobox The M395 Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) is a gas-operated designated marksman rifle designed by Misriah Armory and used by the UNSC Defense Force.[1][2] It is the successor to the M392 model used throughout the Insurrection and the Human-Covenant War. It reintroduces this series into the Marine Corps and the Navy after its predecessor's widespread replacement by the BR55 series. Like its predecessor, the M395 DMR is a select-fire weapon.[3] It is primarily used by light infantry scouts requiring powerful, long-range precision.[1]
Multiplayer
The DMR has the same trigger-pulls to kill (5) as the Battle Rifle but has a slightly faster kill time and longer range. This makes it much more desirable on larger maps with open sightlines. The DMR falls short of the Lightrifle's long range effectiveness, but is much more flexible at medium and close ranges. This makes the DMR one of the most utilitarian weapons in Halo 4.
Trivia
- Strangely, in the final release version of Halo 4, the HUD icon for the DMR is actually an image of the Halo: Reach DMR. Ironically, some pre-release screenshots of the game show a different HUD icon depicting the correct version of the weapon, albeit lacking the forward iron sight.
- The UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet has erroneously stated that the M395 uses 15 rounds magazine.[4]
- As with the M392 DMR in Halo: Reach, the M395 also erroniously ejects the spent shell casing of the M634 X-HP-SAP.
